Cheshire Cat goes under the hour for a 25 mile TT - 17-06-2010

cheshirecat.jpg Well last Sunday was one awesome day resulting in a 59:57 25 mile TT! I have been smiling like the Cheshire Cat since!

Anthony and I travelled to Hampshire to race on the P885/25 - a fast course. One of Anthony's goals for the season was to go under the hour and mine was to go close. It was light when the alarm went off, which isn't usual for time trial mornings, so I had a few moment's hope when I thought we'd set the alarm for the wrong time! No such luck and I was forced to get out of bed. My eyes wouldn't open and I could only get one contact lens in. I fell asleep all the way there and struggled to get going.

Whilst warming up I decided to pull myself together and tried to get a bit hyped up as this was my second and last 25 mile TT of the season. What followed next was an hour of pain! I thought I was close to the hour but my brain was so frazzled I couldn't work it out. The last three miles seemed to drag for so long and my legs felt separated from my body. Finally the lay by with the finish was in sight. I stopped my heart rate monitor and the relief was immense. I was shattered but ecstatic. Anthony met me on the cycle back to HQ and he'd also gone under the hour. It couldn't have been better.
